Special Events

Every Day at Grace is special, but occassionally we celebrate EXTRA special days and events!

Chapel

Grace is loving and accepting of all of God's children, regardless of religious affiliation. Chapel is held on the first Wednesday of each month in the sanctuary of Grace United Methodist Church for our Four-Year-Old classes.  The overall theme is a simple one: "Love one another."  An all-inclusive and child-friendly message is delivered by Pastor Scott Grantland, and birthdays are recognized when it's a student's birthday month. We recognize August birthdays in September and June and July birthdays in May.

Field Trips for Fours

Our Four-Year-Old classes attend field trips throughout each year.  These vary from year to year and are often related to the thematic unit the classes are studying (Pumpkin Patch in Fall, or mailing Valentine cards in February) or are service oriented (such as delivery our annual collection to Food Bank or caroling at a local retirement center.)

Favorite Foods

April is the month of the Young Child.  And what better way to celebrate than to have children set a menu for a special event?  Favorite Foods is a unique pot luck style experience where the children bring some of their favorites to share. The table can be spread with absolutely anything from fruits & vegetables, chicken, pizza, pasta, cheese, chips, cookies and ice cream. Not to mention gummy bears, marshmallows and M&Ms too!  It begs the question: What's your favorite food?

Christmas & Easter

As a ministry of Grace United Methodist Church, we certainly have a good time celebrating the "big" Christian holidays, all while celebrating the diversity of our student population.  Christmas programs are a special treat for our 2s, 3s & 4s parents, and every class gets the chance to search for eggs at during the Easter season.

School-Wide Events

School-wide fun happens a few times each school year.  In the Fall, the Fire Firefighters and their Trucks come for a visit, and we host a "taligate party" (and sometimes have a very special visitor).  Spring Fun includes visits from the dentist office, our annual "Favorite Foods Luncheons" and every kid has a blast at our Spring "Carnival" - complete with games and prizes.

Holidays

Holidays are always fun!  Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, birthdays, etc are "low key" events, usually highlighted with a special shared snack for each class.
